Starting— that's always the hard part. Procrastination for fear of failure and the difficulty of figuring out how or where to start. The landing has to stick and be perfect. Wait for inspiration to strike to type up a clever storm of words.
Well, here's a start. It's not perfect or thought-through. More stream of conscience than grand revelation but it is something. Something is better than nothing. It's a start.
Let's start at the beginning— what's the deal with this blog?
As I was re-organizing my digital music library at the end of 2024 I re-discovered so many bands that I'd forgotten, small bands that I found on obscure internet blogs some ten years ago when Last.fm was more popular and I was regularly catching ride-shares to concerts and making friends through music. I miss it. I don't know where it went, if it's gone or I lost touch when I fell out of music for some years. Maybe, like everything else, it moved to Facebook/Instagram. But that's getting off topic.
I like sharing music. I've always wanted to write about it. I wish more people would have little, independent blogs to discover instead of it all coalescing on a handful of big social media sites. And I want to get back into a habit of writing. So I started this blog.
And in the time that I've been thinking about how to get started with this blog, there have been other things and adventures that I'd like to write about (like my first LARP experiences) so this will probably be more than just a blog about music.
And you stare back at me through the closet and into the world that I never really changed and ask me the only thing you want to know. "When we grow up, do we still get scared when the lights go out?"
